Late yesterday, the US Embassy, in collaboration with Ghana’s National Disaster Management Office (NADMO), delivered desperately needed humanitarian aid materials to the Apiate community near Bogoso.
Clothing, medical supplies, drinking water, blankets and beds, personal hygiene products, and food and cooking utensils were among the relief items sent by the US Department of Defense’s Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster Assistance, and Civic Aid program.
“Friends help friends in times of need. That’s why we’re helping the Apiate community in the aftermath of this accident,” said U.S. Ambassador to Ghana Stephanie S. Sullivan
The United States Embassy was represented at the handover event in Apiate by Major Jarrod Simek of the Office of Security Cooperation.
For more than a decade, the United States Embassy’s Office of Security Cooperation has worked with NADMO to strengthen crisis response capabilities and emergency preparedness in Ghana through the North Dakota National Guard State Partnership Program.
