The victims of the recent tidal wave in the volta region of Ketu south and other neighboring villages are experiencing a sense of relief as municipal authorities work to reconstruct their wrecked buildings of domicile.
The Municipal Chief Executive has revealed, amid a flurry of singing and dancing as the community members rejoice, that he has acquired two million Ghana cedis to kick-start the project, which is set to begin in a fortnight’s time.
The sea defense project would amongst other things, be built as a city of refuge for the rural folks against any unforeseen catastrophe that may endanger their dear lives when on any occasion that the sea storm rages to causing havoc to the residents.
Agavedzi, Blekusu, and Havedzi residents have had to deal with a terrifying nightmare every time the water level rose over usual. Tidal surges swept away dozens of people and their goods and businesses in the early hours of this week.
They lamented the challenges they were faced with but only pleaded with authorities to come to their aid and now that, the help has come, they are beaming with smiles.
