Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey has agreed to play for Ghana. Lamptey has switched his nationality to play for Ghana after a long hopeful pursuit by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Getting Tariq Lamptey to switch his allegiance from the three Lions for the Black Stars proved very difficult. It took quite some time because the player was weighing his options with England, according to reports.
His personal London-based trainer, Coach Eddie, was recently in an interview on Pure fm to confirm the news. He stated that an agreement has been reached and the Brighton and Hove Albion defender will now play for Ghana.
Tariq Lamptey’s switch is done. He is available now for Ghana and it now depends on the coach. If he will invite him for the upcoming games or not. To be honest, I shouldn’t be saying this but the switch is done – Coach Freddie.
Tariq Lamptey has been on the radar of the GFA since making his first premier league appearance for Chelsea. It was in a London derby against Arsenal in 2020.
