Mother Nature tagged us with one feature that we as women cant do without. Menstruation or as you would call it, Your Period. Even though it is required and very essential in womanhood, it comes at a price. A price most women or females young and old wish they would not pay. But well who are we to change the things of nature. Most women especially young in these days experience pains during menstruation. But these experiences are only painful because of some habits women engage in. The kind of food we eat, the activities we perform , our Social mood and all that comes into play.There are some things to avoid While On your Period. Nevertheless there could be some underlying issues with your body that needs to be checked.
Aside that anytime a lady is on her period, these are some 5 very important things that she should not be doing.
1.DON’T GO NEAR CAFFEINE1
You all not what coffee is right, Yes coffee is a Caffeinated beverage. Among others like sodas and even energy drinks. It can contribute to increased breast tenderness during your period. Also, research studies show that caffeine blocks GABA in the brain (the “downer” neurotransmitter), which results in anxiety and increased heart rate, increasing the risk of PMS. You may want to stay away from caffeine till you are clear. Or you can try decaffeinated beverages, which may help soothe cramps.
2.AVOID ICE WATER AND COLD DRINKS2
According to Health Practitioner and Macrobiotic Health Coach, Shilpa Arora, “While you are on your period, you should avoid drinking cold water and eating cold foods as they worsen menstrual cramps. The muscles in the ovary and the vaginal walls tense up. These muscles cannot stretch further, which is why it leads to discomfort. For easy blood flow, drink warm water and avoid very cold and sugary items to keep away the inflammation.”
However, this can be different from person to person. Every womans body or system is different. While some may still feel fine after drinking cold water ofr drink, some others may experience severe cramps.It is best to know how your body works in this effect. Simply, if you having cramps and youve been drinking cold water then that could be the possible reason . So it’s definitely wise to take precautions than to endure the pain while something could be done. Eat and drink items that help produce heat in the body in order to let the blood flow without hampering your health. Include more green leafy vegetables, nuts, whole grains and green tea in your diet to ensure happy and healthy periods.
3. PAUSE THE USE OF SHAMPOO AND PRODUCTS WITH ARTIFICIAL FRAGRANCE.3
This Is Actually Practical .While some women tend to look messed up while on their periods , others want to look elegant . they may want to dress up their hair to look sleek . This act anyway, is not encouraged. Because during theses times the pores of the head are open during menstruation. And some active ingredients in the shampoo or product can absorb into the hair scalp causing headaches. If you want to look sweet, you could simply go for some lukewarm water to wash your hair. It’s the best way to make sure you don’t get any health complications while you continue to look neat. “Using soaps, sprays, or creams with perfumes can also cause vaginal irritation and should be avoided, “If you have a strong vaginal odor, it is best to see your gynecologist in case there is an infection or imbalance that can be treated.”
4. AVOID DAIRY MILK PRODUCTS4
This might come as a surprise to you but dairy products like milk, cream and cheese are some of the foods to avoid during periods. They are high in arachidonic acid which can trigger menstrual cramps. Additionally, thanks to the inclusion of artificial hormones in milk, dairy products are touted to be a major cause of hormonal adult acne in women. So if you have been suffering from conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, etc, then we would highly recommend you to discuss the consumption of dairy with your doctor. You can go for buttermilk and toned milk, both of which are recommended food for when you are on your period
5. DON’T STAY IN-ACTIVE IN THE NAME OF CRAMPS5
Staying in-active is one of the things to avoid while on your Period. I know a lot of friends who like to just stay indoors , doing nothing or probably sleeping. Well research that’s a bad thing. Some people do this and ask why do i feel pains when menstruating. Being active can be fun and does a lot of good for you during your period. Nevertheless it’s best you take it easy and always know your limit. Your period can make you feel drained on some days, and physical symptoms may be worse during some parts of your cycle. give yourself the excuse to relax on certain days. But don’t sleep throughout the whole cycle.
